Dr. Kenneth Mauritz, professor of polymer science and engineering at the School of Polymers and High Performance Materials, served as an expert for a recent article published by Fuel Cells Magazine.

Mauritz helped offer some insight into the importance of polymer materials and science to the advancement of PEMFC/DMFC component design and manufacture.

"These systems could not demonstrate viable technology without polymers, as there are no other materials with all the requisite properties," Mauritz explained in the article.

Mauritz leads a research team at Southern Miss funded by the U.S. Department of Energy in developing low-cost hydrocarbon membranes for high-temperature PEMFCs.
