Sertoma Club Makes $19,000 Donation to DuBard School

The Sertoma Club of Hattiesburg presented a check for $19,000 to the DuBard School for Language Disorders on Tuesday, Aug. 16, which represents that civic organization's largest donation to the school thus far.
The money is collected from an annual draw-down event the club sponsors each May. The Sertoma Club has contributed more than $130,000 to the DuBard School at The University of Southern Mississippi since designating the school as its primary beneficiary.
“What these gentlemen do on behalf of our school is not only considerate but so very important to the work we do here at DuBard,” said school Director Maureen Martin. “This gift is making a significant difference in the lives of so many children with hearing and speech disabilities.”
The DuBard School for Language Disorders was established in 1962 and is a clinical division of the Southern Miss Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences. The school serves children with severe language/speech disorders and/or hearing impairments and provides guidance and counseling for parents and families of the children. The school is a practicum site for university students majoring in speech-language pathology, audiology, or deaf education.
