In helping local community members prepare for the upcoming hurricane season, The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Library and Katrina Research Center will host the Amazing Library Race Wednesday, June 8, from 12 noon – 1 p.m. at the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach.

The race will begin at the library's reference desk where participants will be given a series of questions about hurricane preparedness. Participants must then use library resources to answer the questions. Prizes will be awarded to participants who complete the race with the correct answers in the shortest amount of time. In addition to finding answers regarding hurricane preparedness, participants will keep their responses to help them prepare for the upcoming hurricane season.

The American Red Cross, who will be on hand to discuss hurricane preparedness, will also accept monetary donations for the victims of the recent tornadoes in Mississippi and Alabama. Monetary donations must be provided by check.

The Amazing Library Race is a free event open to all members of the community. For more information, please call the Southern Miss Gulf Coast Library at 228.214.3450.
