LONG BEACH, Miss. – The Gulf Coast Library at The University of Southern Mississippi will present free community workshops throughout the month of October for the library's “60 Minutes to Success” initiative. The one-hour sessions will be held in the library room 213 on the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach.

The workshops offered are Learn-a-Test, Learn How to Use Databases to Seek Grants, Learn How to Use Microsoft Office, and Using Electronic Books Online. The Learn-a-Test workshop will allow users to take practice tests online, assist in writing resumes and preparing for job interviews. The Microsoft Office workshop will teach participants how to use charts, spreadsheets, presentations and word processing skills to help attendees enhance and improve social and professional skills.

The workshop, Learn How to Use Databases to Seek Grants, provides an introduction to one of the key online tools for finding funders, Foundation Directory Online Professional. Attendees will learn how to create customized searches in order to find support for the various needs of nonprofit organizations. In the Using Electronic Books Online workshop, attendees will learn how to use NetLibrary to access the growing format of titles being offered electronically.

All workshops are conducted by professional library staff and registration is not required. Most workshops rotate and will be held again throughout the fall semester.
