LONG BEACH, Miss. – The Gulf Coast Library at The University of Southern Mississippi will present free community workshops in the month of December for the library's “60 Minutes to Success” initiative. The one-hour sessions will be held in the library room 213 on the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach.

The first workshop, “Learn How to Use Microsoft Office,” will be held Monday, Dec. 5, from 3-4 p.m. This one-hour session will teach participants how to use charts, spreadsheets, presentations and word processing skills. These free learning sessions are geared toward enhancing and improving social and professional skills.

The remaining December workshops, “Learn How to Use Databases to Seek Grants” and “Learn-a-Test,” will be held Tuesday, Dec. 6. “Learn How to Use Databases to Seek Grants,” offered 10-11 a.m., provides an introduction to one of the key online tools for finding funders, Foundation Directory Online Professional. Attendees will learn how to create customized searches in order to find support for the various needs of nonprofit organizations. “Learn-a-Test,” offered 3-4 p.m., explores a free website allowing users to take practice tests online, assist in writing resumes and preparing for job interviews.

All workshops are conducted by professional library staff and registration is not required. For more information, call 228.214.3450 or email krcFREEMississippi.
