The University of Southern Mississippi's Department of Psychology and the Tourette's Syndrome Association will host a free Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics program Friday, Dec. 2 from 8:30 -11:30 a.m. in the Thad Cochran Center, Ballroom 1.  The program will provide authoritative information on comprehensive behavior assessment and treatment for tics.

Dr. Douglas Woods from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee will be the presenter for the program. Woods is one of the lead investigators on the National Institute of Mental Health grant that is sponsoring this program. His research interests include investigating non-medication treatments for Tourette's Syndrome, the impact of the disorder, environmental influences on its expression and assessing and treating tic disorders.

“Douglas Woods will bring a wealth of knowledge to this program from his non-medication treatment research of Tourette's Syndrome,” said Dr. Joe Olmi, chairman of the Department of Psychology. ‘We look forward to hearing his insights and the opportunity for our students and faculty to visit with him one-on-one.”
