 Morgan Makes Presentations during fall 2011 Semester

Dr. Hani Morgan, assistant professor in The University of Southern Mississippi's Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Special Education presented a webinar on cyberbullying for Kappa Delta Pi this fall. Kappa Delta Pi is an international honor society in education and its eChapter Webinars are topical presentations for educators, developed to keep them current in the field and connected to one another.

Morgan also presented at two conferences during the fall semester, including in October when he presented a paper in Chicago on William Heard Kilpatrick for the Organization of Educational Historians, an academic society of scholars from throughout the nation who produce research on educational history. He also presented a session titled “What Teachers, Parents, and Schools Can Do to Prevent Cyberbullying” in November at the Mid-South Educational Research Association conference in Oxford, Miss.

Karnes, Stephens Present at NAGC 58^th annual Convention

 Dr. Frances A. Karnes, Distinguished Professor of Gifted Education at The University of Southern Mississippi; and Dr. Kristen Stephens, assistant professor of the practice in Duke University's Program in Education and a Southern Miss alumna, presented “Are Your Students Future-Ready? Assessing 21^st Century Skills and Knowledge through Creative Products” at the National Association for Gifted Children's (NAGC) 58^th annual convention in New Orleans, La.

The presentation offered up-to-date instructional strategies and information for teachers, counselors, administrators, parents and other interested persons.

Stephens serves as governance secretary for the National Association for Gifted Children and is current president of the North Carolina Association for the Gifted and Talented. Karnes serves as director of The Frances A. Karnes Center for Gifted Studies at Southern Miss.
