Southern Miss to Offer Digital Photography Class to Public In May

The School of Mass Communication and Journalism at The University of Southern Mississippiwill offer a basic digital photography course for those who have always wanted to learn the basics of photography and to shoot with a 35mm-type Digital Single Lens Reflex camera.

The classes are offered May 16 - 20 and May 23 - 27 from 5-9:30 p.m., and are a great opportunity for those who work full-time and always wanted to take a photography course. The classes are available to non-photojournalism students who can enroll for credit and to members of the public who can take the course on a not-for-credit basis.

Professional photojournalist and Southern Miss Professor of Practice Gina Gayle will teach the courses. Gayle has years of experience working for various newspapers, including the San Francisco Chronicle and news agencies across the country. Gayle is a former Hearst Journalism Fellow and the recipient of numerous awards. Her work has been widely published in newspapers such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, Newsday and many news wire services.
