The University of Southern Mississippi Office of Professional Development and Educational Outreach will be offering programs designed to provide instruction in management and leadership.

The Professional Certification in Human Resource Management Course will be held from 4-8 p.m. every Tuesday March 29-May 24 on the Hattiesburg campus. This course serves as the instructional guide for the Professional in Human Resource Management and the Senior Professional in Human Resource Management certification exams.

The program will provide human resource professionals with advanced knowledge for managing human resource challenges. The course materials will provide participants with a current reference of human resource practices.

Topics will include strategic management, workforce planning and employment, human resources development, employee and labor relations and risk management. Participants will receive 3.5 continuing education units for successful completion of the course. The cost is $795 before March 21.

The Performance Coaching Workshop will be held from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. March 30-31 on the Southern Miss Gulf Coast campus in Long Beach, Miss. This workshop utilizes an Eight-Step Coaching Model designed to manage performance through problem-solving, empowerment, motivation and career development.

“This is an intensely practice-based and skill oriented workshop. Skills being developed throughout the workshop will be actively modeled and practiced,” said Wanda Freeland, workshop facilitator. “Exercises are based around highly effective adult learning methods and experience-based approaches.”
