Southern Miss Students Participate in West Point Program

Three University of Southern Mississippi students were delegates to the United States Military Academy's (USMA) annual National Conference on Ethics in America (NCEA), held recently in West Point, N.Y.
The delegates from Southern Miss included:
* Jazmyne Butler, a junior broadcast journalism major from Vicksburg, Miss. Butler is a student in the Southern Miss Honors College and a Leadership Scholar. She is also a member of the Student Government Association (SGA) cabinet, Southern Style and Delta Sigma Theta.
* Brandon Hersey, a sophomore political science major from Hattiesburg. A Lucky Day Scholar, Hersey is a member of the SGA cabinet and Eagles Connections, and is a resident assistant at Century Park.
* Tyler Chastain, a senior marketing major from Jackson, Ala. Chastain has served as an SGA senator and was named Most Outstanding Senator for 2009-2010 and President Pro Tempe of the SGA Senate for 2010-2011. He is executive cabinet chief of staff for the SGA and chancellor for the Gamma Tau chapter of Delta Sigma Pi professional fraternity.
Presented with the support of the USMA Class of 1970, the NCEA promotes awareness among undergraduate students about ethical issues in their collegiate communities and in professional career fields. Approximately 180 students from more than 60 academic institutions across the country participate in the program annually.
The program offers delegates the opportunity to interact with mentors representing a variety of backgrounds and professional fields in examining moral and ethical challenges faced by all in daily life. By challenging delegates to think critically about these issues, the program facilitates a dialogue that sets the groundwork for them to bring their ideas back to their college and university communities.
