Southern Miss President Martha Saunders signs a proclamation endorsing the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee's (SAAC) participation in the Conference USA Changing Lives community service program as students Alyssia Cole, Danielle La Pointe and Ronnie Thornton look on.

University of Southern Mississippi student-athletes will go for their third Conference USA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Cup in a row in kicking off their participation in the league's Changing Lives Program Nov.12-18, an initiative uniting conference institutions through community service. This is the fourth year C-USA has held the competition.

Working in conjunction with the Southern Miss Office of Community Service Learning (OCSL), the university's SAAC will host a series of canned goods collections as part of the competition. The effort will include collections at Southern Miss athletic events, while also accepting donations on the Hattiesburg campus at the OCSL office, located in The Hub, room 104.

Last year local Hattiesburg charitable organizations, such as Christian Services and the Edwards Street Fellowship Center, benefited directly from Southern Miss' participation in the initiative.
