Fri, 02/25/2011 - 04:04pm | By: David Tisdale

This summer would you like to visit another country that you've only seen on television or in pictures, witness its natural beauty firsthand, experience its culture and learn its history and language, all while earning academic credit?

The University of Southern Mississippi offers its students the opportunity to do just that. The Southern Miss Office of International Programs will host a summer study abroad interest meeting Wednesday, March 2 at 3:30 p.m. in the International Center, room 101.

At this meeting, students can learn about the different programs offered, meet program directors and get information about courses offered, the program itinerary, application deadlines and financial aid.

Southern Miss' summer study abroad programs include:

  • Austrian Studies
  • British Studies
  • French in France
  • Religions of India
  • Spanish in Costa Rica
  • Spanish in Spain
  • Study Abroad in Ghana
  • Study Abroad in Panama

Students who would like to get the perspective of other students who have participated in study abroad programs can talk to a Study Abroad Peer Advisor. To arrange a meeting with a Peer Advisor, contact coordinator Nicholas Stiles by e-mail at nicholas.stilesFREEMississippi.

The International Center is located next to the Liberal Arts Building and across from Joseph Greene Hall. For more information, call 601.266.4344.
