10th Golden Eagle Intertribal POW WOW April 20-21 on Hattiesburg Campus

The 10th annual Golden Eagle Intertribal POW WOW will be held April 20-21 on the Southern Miss Hattiesburg campus.

The 10th annual Golden Eagle Intertribal POW WOW will be held April 20-21 at The District, located near the Ogletree Alumni House, on The University of Southern Mississippi Hattiesburg campus.

Presented by the Southern Miss Center for American Indian Research and Studies (CAIRS) and the Golden Eagles Intertribal Society, the event is a celebration of Native American traditions. Music, social dance, arts and crafts are part of the schedule for the POW WOW, which will also include food and novelty vendors offering such delicacies as bison burgers and alligator tail.

The POW WOW schedule of events includes:

Friday, April 20:
10 a.m. – 2 p.m.: School Day - K-12 students, including home school students, are invited for storytelling, arts and crafts including creating corn husk dolls and bear claw necklaces, social dancing and an educational session on native plants.

4 p.m.: Gourd Dancing

6 p.m.: Grand Entry/POW WOW

Saturday, April 21:

Noon - 3 p.m.: Performance by Native American funk-rock band “Cocoa Creppel and Cannes Brulles”

4 p.m.: Gourd Dancing

6 p.m.: Grand Entry/POW WOW
