The University of Southern Mississippi Office of Career Services recently offered a seminar for preprofessional students designed to assist them in interview preparation, writing personal statements for applications, and overall resume and professional school application preparation.

The seminar was sponsored by the College of Science and Technology Premedical and Health Professions Office.

Mary Beard, Career Counselor, was invited to speak to students from Alpha Epsilon Delta, the National Health Preprofessional Honor Society, and AMSA, the American Medical Student Association.

AED is dedicated to the encouragement and recognition of excellence in preprofessional health scholarship, including medicine, dentistry, veterinary, and others. AMSA is the only national independent student-run medical organization working for medical students and leadership training and community service opportunities.

The Premedical and Health Professions Office is housed in the College of Science and Technology and is located in the Dean's Office complex in the Chain Technology Building.  The Preprofessional Office helps students prepare for careers in a variety of health-care fields by discussing strategies for success and offering assistance with course selection, schedule planning, and the application process.
