College of Nursings Nugent Elected President of Regional Board

Dr. Katherine Nugent, dean of the College of Nursing at The University of Southern Mississippi, has been elected president of the Southern Educational Board (SREB) Council on Collegiate Education for Nursing.
Before gaining the presidency, Nugent served as vice president and board member.
The organization's focus is to serve as a proactive advocate for greater excellence and access to nursing education in the 16 SREB states and the District of Columbia.
The council provides in-time data on administrative, faculty and student data in nursing program in the region. The council's primary purpose is to remain responsive to nursing educational issues and to provide leadership in meeting the educational issues.
