Day of Sharing for Teachers of the Gifted Oct. 26 at Southern Miss

The Day of Sharing for Teachers of the Gifted will be held Friday, Oct. 26 at the R.C. Cook University Union on the Hattiesburg campus of The University of Southern Mississippi. This conference, sponsored by the Frances A. Karnes Center for Gifted Studies, is designed to educate teachers on current curriculum and instructional issues in gifted education.  

Teachers of the gifted, regular education teachers, psychologists, and administrators are encouraged to attend. There is no cost for the conference, however, Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for a small fee.

Keynote speaker Dr. Kevin Besnoy, assistant professor of Gifted and Talented Education at The University of Alabama, will present Steps to Being a More Efficient Digital Citizen. Other sessions will follow. Elvira Deyamport of the Hattiesburg Public School District will present Skype in the Gifted Classroom. Jonnie Cleveland from Southern Miss will present Meta-Analysis of Single-Subject Research Strategies to Improve Cognitive Content of Student Writing. Carol Paola, executive director of the Mississippi Association for Gifted Children, will present on MAGC and Parent Advocacy.

Immediately following lunch, teachers will be given time to share activities and ideas. Teachers should indicate their intent to share materials on their registration form.
