Dr. James Pat Smith Authors New Book, Hurricane Katrina: The Mississippi Story

LONG BEACH, Miss. – The book, “Hurricane Katrina: The Mississippi Story,” by Dr. James Pat Smith, professor of history at The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast, was recently published by University Press of Mississippi. “Hurricane Katrina: The Mississippi Story” presents the fullest account yet written of the impact of this storm on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

According to University Press of Mississippi, Smith takes readers through life and death accounts from August 29, 2005, and the precarious days of food and water shortages that followed. The book inspires with episodes of neighborly compassion, creative responses, and the six-year struggle to rebuild after the greatest natural disaster in American history.
