Gulf Coast Communications Office Wins Five Awards in State Competition

The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Office of University Communications received five professional awards at the 2012 Public Relations Association of Mississippi (PRAM) awards banquet in Columbus, Miss.

The Southern Miss Gulf Coast Office of University Communications includes Shelia White, director of marketing and public relations, Judy Isbell, director of web services, Charmaine Schmermund, assistant director of public relations, and Francesca Linthicum, assistant director of creative services.

The office received a Certificate of Achievement for the entry “A Tribute to 9/11,” in the community relations program - short term category. A second Certificate of Achievement was awarded to the office in the category of organizational identity – institutional and image advertising for the entry “Stay Here. Go Far. Television.”

In the category of writing for public relations - news release, Schmermund received an Award of Excellence for the entry “Autism Project Gears Up for New School Year” and a Certificate of Achievement for the entry “Buffett Family Boat Donation, Christening.” Schmermund was also award a second Certificate of Achievement for the entry “WOW! Kick-off Walk Photo” in the images – photography color category.

The Award of Excellence is given to work worthy of recognition and the Certificate of Achievement recognizes notable work in the field of public relations.
