Health Forum Series Begins with Disease Prevention and Wellness Promotion

In effort to keep the spotlight on professional health education, The University of Southern Mississippi's College of Health is hosting its annual spring forum series.
The series, sponsored by Hattiesburg Clinic, will follow the customary three-part format on topics including disease prevention and wellness, the Affordable Care Act, and poverty and its impact on health.
The first forum will be held from 6 p.m.-7:45 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, in the Thad Cochran Center Ballroom on the Hattiesburg campus. The topic, “Pioneering approaches to Disease Prevention and Wellness Promotion for Improved Health Outcomes,” will feature a panel of speakers discussing the various innovations in disease prevention and wellness.
Speakers include Forward Health Solutions owner Rebecca Boyd; West Chiropractic Clinic physician Chris West and Anatomies' Gateway Program Director Lee Armstrong. “All three speakers represent pioneer approaches to prevention and wellness, and are likely to lead the charge into the future of health care in our nation” said Ryan Kelly, College of Health director of external relations.
The forum will highlight innovative methods for disease prevention and health promotion that are showing great promise, as well as how they can be applied by a wide range of health care workers including physicians, nurses, social workers, physical therapists, and anyone dealing with the improvement of health.
The forum is open to students, faculty, staff, health care professionals, alumni and community members, and there is no charge to attend.
