IHL Administrators to Meet at Southern Miss for Software Demonstration

Key representatives from all eight major universities in Mississippi will convene on The University of Southern Mississippi campus March 8-9 for demonstrations and discussion of strategic planning software developed by Ad Astra Information Systems.

The summit is scheduled for 1-7 p.m. on March 8 and 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on March 9 at the Thad Cochran Center. There is no cost for registration.

“The Ad Astra software and strategic study will help Southern Miss to effectively schedule classrooms, monitor their utilization efficiently and plan for enrollment growth,” said Debby Hill, associate registrar at Southern Miss.

Hill notes that the software also assists department personnel in scheduling classrooms in their areas more efficiently by viewing classroom availability. Software users will also be able to automate scheduling events/meetings in their conference rooms, labs, etc.

Southern Miss has employed a client-based version of the software since 2004 and used it as a part of the annual report to the Mississippi Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL). The IHL has since purchased upgraded versions of the software for all eight universities.

Founded in 1996, Ad Astra has licenses with more than 550 college and universities. Company founder and CEO Tom Shaver will be on hand for the summit as a primary presenter on March 8.
