Insurance Commissioner Chaney, Attorney General Hood Speak at Girls State

American Legion Auxiliary Girls State delegates heard speeches from statewide elected officials Tuesday, including Attorney General Jim Hood and Commissioner of Insurance Mike Chaney. The weeklong program, held this week on The University of Southern Mississippi's Hattiesburg campus, is designed to teach the more than 230 rising high school seniors about the political process through hands-on activities such as development of legislation and campaigning for office in the fictitious state of “Magnolia.” (University Communications photos by David Tisdale)
