Karnes Co-Authors Chapter for New Book on Gifted Education

Dr. Frances A. Karnes, distinguished university professor in the department of curriculum, instruction and special education at The University of Southern Mississippi and director of the Frances Karnes Center for Gifted Studies; Dr. Kristen Stephens, assistant professor at Duke University; and John Dudley, a doctoral student in political science at the University of Mississippi, have written a chapter in the book, “Identification-The Theory and Practice of Identifying Students for Gifted and Talented Education Services,” published by Creative Learning Press and edited by Scott Hunsaker. The chapter is entitled, “Identification of the Gifted: an Overview of Legal Issues” and reviews selected due process hearings and court cases focusing on the identification of gifted children and youth.
