Live Oak Writing Project to Host Writing, Science Workshop for Teachers

The Southern Miss Gulf Coast Live Oak Writing Project will host the workshop “Connecting Writing to the Common Core State Standards in the Science Classroom”on Tuesday, Feb. 7 from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the university's Gulf Park campus in Long Beach.

Designed for kindergarten through eighth grade teachers, the workshop will examine how to connect science, reading and writing in the classroom. An examination of the three components of the writing standards in Common Core State Standards and research-based strategies for writing and reading across the curriculum will be presented.

The workshop fee is $90 and continuing education units (CEUs) are pending approval. The deadline to register for the workshop is Friday, Feb. 3.
