Management, Leadership to Be Focus of Professional Development Series

The University of Southern Mississippi's Office of Professional Development and Educational Outreach will be offering programs focused on management and leadership in September and October on the Hattiesburg campus.

Cultivating a Collaborative and Productive Workplace will be held on Sept. 21 from 8 a.m. to noon. This seminar will help leaders and team members develop awareness and understanding of the needs and behavioral styles of different personality types and how to use this information to work more effectively and improve workplace communication and relationships. The cost is $110.

Essentials in Human Resource Management Professional Certificate is scheduled for Sept. 27-28from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.The program is designed to give attendees up-to-date practical knowledge and skills to assist in becoming more effective handling HR issues. The cost is $369 before Sept. 14 and $419 after Sept. 14.

Qualities of an Effective Team Member will be held Oct. 12 from 8 a.m. to noon. This seminar will help individuals understand and identify the individual characteristics of a team player. Participants will have the opportunity to self-evaluate and develop action plans to become the team player everyone wants. The cost is $110.

Resolving Operational Conflict will be held Oct. 26 from 8 a.m. to noon. This seminar will help individuals understand the root of conflict and practice techniques to resolve conflict on the job to ensure positive outcomes for operational conflict. Participants will gain an understanding of the rules of conflict, the process to resolve and the benefits of collaboration. The cost is $110.
