Mon, 03/26/2012 - 04:08pm

David Echevarria

The University of Southern Mississippi Libraries Science Café, “Musical Minds,” will be held today from 6-7:30 p.m. in Cook Library Art Gallery, located next to Starbucks in Cook Library, room 105A.

Can the power of music make the brain come alive? This Science Café will focus on music's strange, surprising and still unexplained power over the brain. The discussion will be led by David Echevarria, associate professor in the Southern Miss Department of Psychology and director of the Behavioral Neuroscience Laboratory.

A Science Cafes casual meeting place, plain language, and inclusive conversation create a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for people who may have no science background. Each meeting is organized around an interesting scientific topic where a scientist gives a brief presentation and shows a short video clip to kick off the discussion. The events are free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Tracy Englert 601.266.6396.
