The University of Southern Mississippi's Southern Arena Theatre will bring love and laughter to the stage this summer.

The lineup begins June 21 with the presentation of Mat Smart's “The 13th of Paris” June 21. This charming and theatrical romantic comedy finds a young American taking a spontaneous vacation from his life in Chicago to the 13th arrondissement of Paris, carrying a suitcase filled with the surprising love letters of his grandparents. The ghost of his Parisian grandfather steers him on the right course toward love with a “crash course” in finding real romance and listening to his heart.

Ken Ludwig's “The Fox on the Fairway” follows, beginning June 28. This tribute to the great English farces of the 1930s and 1940s takes audiences on a hilarious romp, which begins as Quail Valley Country Club prepares to take on archrival Crouching Squirrel in the annual Inter-Club Golf Tournament. With a sizable wager at stake, the contest plays out amidst three love affairs, a disappearing diamond, objectionable sweaters and an exploding vase.

Performances of “The 13th of Paris” are June 21, 22, 23, 30 at 7:30 p.m.; July 3, 5, 7, 11, 13 at 7:30 p.m.; and July 8 at 2 p.m. in the Gilbert F. Hartwig Theatre. “The Fox on the Fairway” runs June 28 and 29 at 7:30 p.m.; July 4, 6, 10, 12 and 14 at 7:30 p.m. and July 1 and 15 at 2 p.m. in the Martha R. Tatum Theatre. Both theatres are located in the Theatre and Dance Building at the corner Ross Boulevard and Pearl Street. Seating is reserved and ticket prices are $12 for adults; $10 for seniors, Southern Miss faculty, staff and military; and $6 for students.
