Southern Miss Broadcast Journalism Students Win AP Awards

For the third straight year, University of Southern Mississippi broadcast journalism students earned the coveted Associated Press Award in four major categories. 

Student winners and categories of competition include:

First place, Best T.V. News Story: “To Pledge or Not to Pledge.” Tabari Daniels of Gulfport, Miss. (reporter/photographer, editor)

First place, Best Website:Hub City T.V. Malary Pullen of Lumberton, Miss. (reporter, webmaster)

Second place, Best Overall Newscast: Hub City T.V. Episode 5: “Economics.” Jasmine Cooper of Chicago, Ill. (producer), Malary Pullen of Lumberton, Miss. (anchor), Tara Martin of Marietta, Ga. (reporter) and Tabari Daniels of Gulfport, Miss. (reporter)

Third place, Best Feature:  “Military Funeral.” Ben Sutton of Hattiesburg (reporter, photographer, editor).
