The College of Arts and Letters at The University of Southern Mississippi presented T-shirts to 647 people who clicked the “Like” button on the College's Facebook page during a special promotion held Feb. 6-7.

The T-shirts display the three tag lines that represent the areas within the college: The Choice for the Arts, Exploring the Human Experience, and Providing Tools to Understand Our World.

By signing up to “Like” the College's page, individuals will continue to stay up-to-date with what is going on within the college and show their pride in the College of Arts and Letters to everyone on their friends list.

At 2 p.m. on May 4 the college will once again host an event as a follow-up to the earlier promotion, asking all those who participated earlier this spring to wear their Arts and Letters T-shirt and gather in front of the Liberal Arts Building (LAB) for a group photo.

As a token of appreciation for following the College of Arts & Letters through social media, a representative from Smoothie King will be on hand to distribute coupons for a 99-cent small smoothie to those who participate in the photo shoot.

“We look forward to seeing the individuals that participated earlier this semester and all of the Arts and Letters t-shirts in one place,” said Dr. Mark Wrighton, associate dean for undergraduate programs and assessment in the College of Arts and Letters. “We are also excited about the potential that social media offers us when communicating with our students, faculty, staff, potential students, alumni, and the boarder community.”

Individuals can RSVP to the event by visiting the College of Arts and Letters event page on their Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/USMArtsandLetters).

Anyone wishing to purchase one of the limited edition T-shirts for $5 can visit the Liberal Arts Building room 210 or take a quick survey about the college at (http://www.usm.edu/arts-letters/al-t-shirt-contest) and you will be entered in a contest to receive a free t-shirt.

Only one contest entry allowed. Individuals who win a T-shirt will be contacted via the email submitted, and his/her submission could be used for quoting on the College's various websites. Those who come by LAB 210 to pick up a T-shirt may also have a photo taken for use on the College's websites.
