Southern Miss Gulf Coast Library to Host African-American Genealogy Workshop

The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast will host the African-American Genealogy Workshop, taught by Anne Anderson and Joyce Griffith of the Ocean Springs Genealogical Society, Saturday, Feb. 25 from 10 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. in room 204 of the library on the university's Gulf Park campus in Long Beach.

The workshop, in conjunction with the Historical Society of Gulfport, will begin with instruction on how to conduct basic genealogical research. Additional instruction will provide information on specific research tools related to free people of color and slave ancestors' genealogy.

Seating is limited, but anyone interested in learning about how to research family history is welcome to attend. Refreshments will be provided and lunch is on your own.
