Gulf Coast SGA to Host Professional Black Women's Panel Feb. 29

The Student Government Association at The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast will conclude their celebration of Black History Month with the free lunch and learn program, “Professional Black Women's Panel: Sharing Challenges and Triumphs.”

The program will take place Wednesday, Feb. 29 from 11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in room 104 of the Fleming Education Center on the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach. The panel will include Joycelyn Moody, principal of Harrison County Disciplinary School; Ella Holmes-Hines, Ward 3 councilwoman for the city of Gulfport; Karen Sock, general manager and chief operations officer of Margaritaville Casino; and Dorothy McEwen, director of South Mississippi Regional Center.

Southern Miss Gulf Coast to Host Scholars Bowl March 1

The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast will host this year's Scholars Bowl beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 1 in the Fleming Education Center auditorium on the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach.

Collegiate teams will compete throughout the day in 30-minute trivia matches until the final two teams challenge each other in the championship match for the Golden Eagle trophy. The teams are comprised of three students and one faculty or staff member. The emcee for this year's Scholars Bowl will be Jeff Lawson, news anchor at WLOX.
