Southern Miss Speech and Hearing Science Professor Wins Award

Dr. Charles G. Marx, professor of audiology in the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences at The University of Southern Mississippi, was recently chosen as the 2011 recipient of the Mississippi Speech-Language-Hearing Association's Mississippi Clinical Achievement Award. 

This award recognizes demonstrated contributions to the advancement of knowledge in clinical practice in speech-language pathology and audiology. 

Marx joined state recipients from across the nation for nomination for the American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation's Louis M. DiCarlo Award for Outstanding Recent Clinical Achievement.  This award is in recognition of Louis M. DiCarlo, a career clinical professional in communication sciences and disorders. 

Marx quotes, “I am honored and very appreciative of this recognition of my efforts to provide Audiological clinical services to the citizens of central and south Mississippi over the past 29 years.  It is also extremely gratifying to be able to pass this clinical knowledge along to future Audiologists in my current setting at The University of Southern Mississippi.”

Marx joins Dr. Maureen Martin, director of the DuBard School for Language Disorders at The University of Southern Mississippi, as recent recipients of the award.  Martin received the award in 2009.
