Southern Miss Student receives Top Award from Kappa Delta Sorority

University of Southern Mississippi junior Meredith Manguno, of Germantown, Tenn., was recognized recently by Kappa Delta Sorority with the Corre Anding Stegall Collegiate Leadership Award.

Manguno, who is majoring in biology and psychology, is one of 17 collegiate women chosen from the sorority's more than 15,000 undergraduate members to receive the honor.

The Corre Anding Stegall Collegiate leadership Award is the highest honor granted by Kappa Delta Sorority to individual undergraduate members. Named for past National president Corre Setgall, the award recognizes exemplary performance based on campus leadership, service to Kappa Delta and scholarship.

“I still feel so honored to have received the Corre Anding Stegall Leadership Award,” Manguno said. “It became a goal of mine during my freshman year to be a candidate, but actually receiving it was such a privilege. I am ready to uphold the standards of the wonderful girls that have received the award before me.”

At Southern Miss, Manguno is involved in the Student Government Association, Lambda Sigma Honors Society and acted as co-director for the 2011 Miss University of Southern Mississippi Pageant.

Manguno's plans for after graduation include attending a fast-tracked doctoral program in clinical psychology at the University of Mississippi and eventually undertake pediatric clinical health psychology.
