University Police Arrest Two Students in Conjunction with Fight on Campus

University of Southern Mississippi Police have arrested two students related to a fight on the Hattiesburg campus on Wednesday, Nov. 28. Those arrested include Anthony Alford and Korey Hathorn. Alford has been charged with aggravated assault, while Hathorn has been charged with felony possession of a weapon on campus by a student. No one was injured in the altercation.

The incident occurred near the campus' Walker Science Building at approximately 11 a.m. University Police responded to a call of an altercation involving approximately four individuals, including two nonstudents.

While responding to the incident, a University police officer observed Hathorn near the scene in possession of a handgun. Hathorn, who is believed to be a part of the fight, was taken into custody without incident and his weapon recovered.

After further investigation, officers also arrested Alford, who is also believed to be involved in the fight. Both students have received interim suspensions from the University until such time as they can participate in the student judicial process.

University Police report that the investigation continues and that additional arrests are expected.
