Virginia Berry, Speech and Hearing Sciences Faculty Member, Dies

Virginia Berry, an assistant professor in The University of Southern Mississippi's Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences, died Monday at her home in Hattiesburg. She was 63.
Funeral services for Berry will be announced at a later date.
A native of New Orleans, Berry joined the Southern Miss faculty in 1993. She held a bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University and a master's degree from Vanderbilt University, as well as a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Berry was a multiple winner of the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences' Teacher of the Year award. In addition to teaching, her work at Southern Miss included pediatric audiology and supervision of students in the department's audiology clinic.
“We are deeply saddened at Virginia's passing,” said Dr. Steve Cloud, chairman of the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences. “She was beloved by her students and fellow faculty members, as well as by clients who benefited from her services as a pediatric audiologist.”
