The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Civic Chorale will celebrate the sixth annual “Festival of Choirs” with a free concert Monday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Long Beach.

Hosted by the Southern Miss Gulf Coast Civic Chorale, the Festival of Choirs will feature nearly 10 music groups that include the Hattiesburg Choral Union, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Jackson County Campus and high school chorus groups throughout south Mississippi. During the concert, choirs will be featured on individual songs, and then all singers will perform together with a string quartet to close the program.

Celebrating its 19th year at Southern Miss, the chorale serves as a community outreach program welcoming members of all ages throughout the Mississippi Gulf Coast. More than 80 members sing in the ensemble, which is led by John Flanery, assistant choral director and associate professor at Southern Miss.
