Hendley to Referee Cystic Fibrosis Sports Challenge and Great Strides Walk

Division Vice President for Coca-Cola of Hattiesburg Russ Hendley will be the Celebrity Referee for the 23rd annual Delta Tau Delta Cystic Fibrosis Sports Challenge and Great Strides Walk to be held University of Southern Mississippi campus Saturday, March 2 between 8:30 a.m. – noon on the fitness trail by the Payne Center, with final registration from 9 to 10 a.m. Delta Gamma sorority will co-host this year's event.

Hendley, a Warner Robins, Ga. native has called Hattiesburg home for more than 30 years. A Southern Miss alumnus, he has been employed by Coca-Cola of Hattiesburg since 1987 in many roles including Route Manager for Youth Market, Business Development Manager and sales manager before assuming his current position.

“I'm honored to be chosen by the men of Delta Tau Delta and women of Delta Gamma to be the Celebrity Referee for the 2013 Cystic Fibrosis Sports Challenge,” Hendley said. “This is truly a great cause to fight a formidable disease.”

His community activities and achievements include founding the Roundball Express Basketball Showteam for kids; serving as Secretary/Treasurer of the Hattiesburg Noon-Day Optimist Club, membership in the Hattiesburg Area Muscular Dystrophy Association; service as past board member of the American Red Cross; Hattiesburg Public Schools' Education Foundation, United Way board member, past chair of the American Heart Association Heart Walk 2012; Grand Marshal of the 27thannual Southern Miss Coca-Cola Classic Rodeo; and selection as Optimist of the Year as well as Junior Auxiliary Humanitarian of the Year.
