Jarvis Voted Homecoming Maid to Represent Southern Miss Gulf Coast

University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park campus student Brandy Jarvis of Ocean Springs, senior marketing major, will represent the Southern Miss Gulf Coast student body in this year's Southern Miss Homecoming festivities October 21 - 26.
Jarvis currently serves as vice president of the Student Government Association (SGA) at the university's Gulf Park campus, as well as a member of the Southern Connection Leadership Team, president of the university's Gulf Coast chapter of the American Marketing Association and member of The Legacy student alumni association.
“I am thrilled and humbled that the student body at Southern Miss Gulf Coast felt that I was fit to receive this honor,” said Jarvis. “I am excited to represent my fellow students' enthusiasm for academic achievement, leadership, and traditions unique to our campus.”
Earlier in her university career, Jarvis attended the university's Hattiesburg campus where she was a member of the Dixie Darlings and Southern Misses. Through her love of dance, Jarvis felt her position on both dance teams allowed her to express her school spirit for the Golden Eagles. This year, she continues cheering for black and gold as a member of the New Orleans Saintsations, the elite NFL football cheerleading squad.
“I am certain the nostalgia will set in as I take the field at M. M. Roberts Stadium with memories of my time as a Dixie Darling performing with the Pride of Mississippi Marching Band,” added Jarvis, who has danced since the age of 2. “I can't wait to replay my memories and create new ones at Southern Miss Homecoming 2013!”
Jarvis', whose career goals are to one day earn her MBA and become a marketing director in New Orleans, says that being a student at the Southern Miss Gulf Park campus has allowed her to have a closer relationship with faculty, staff and students at the university.
“I have had the opportunity to lead my student body as both SGA vice president and interim president, my community as a pageant title holder, and my region as an NFL Cheerleader. There are so many students that are high achievers and leaders, and I am honored to represent them as a homecoming maid.”
The Southern Miss Gulf Park campus will host the 3rd Annual Golf Cart Spirit Parade at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23. Festivities will continue after the parade at a reception honoring the homecoming maid.
Southern Miss will present the Homecoming court at half-time during the football game against North Texas on Saturday, Oct. 26. Kick-off is at 6 p.m.
