Community Invited to Gulf Coast Celebration of Inauguration of Southern Miss President

The University of Southern Mississippi will host the Gulf Coast Celebration of the Inauguration of Dr. Rodney D. Bennett as the tenth president of the university on Thursday, May 1, from 4 – 6 p.m. in the Hardy Hall ballroom on the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach.
Bennett, who began his presidency on April 1, 2013, came to Southern Miss from the University of Georgia where he served as Vice President for Student Affairs. As Southern Miss President, Bennett is charged with serving as both the chief executive officer and principal educational officer for the university.
Bennett holds a doctor of education degree in educational administration from Tennessee State University in Nashville, a specialist in education degree and a master of education degree in educational administration from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, and a bachelor of science degree in mass communication from Middle Tennessee State.
