Duguay First to Earn Certified Sport Security Professional Credential

The National Center for Spectator Sport Safety and Security (NCS4) at The University of Southern Mississippi announces that Yves Duguay is the first international candidate to earn the Certified Sport Security Professional (CSSP) credential. 

Duguay is president of HCiWorld, a security consulting firm based in Montreal, Canada.  Duguay has extensive work experience as a security professional in civil aviation and public safety. More recently, he has brought his expertise to the field of sports and special events providing safety and security consulting services to large-scale spectator events in Canada.

Duguay began his security career with the Royal Canadian Mounted police, serving in a number of functions across Canada, including the direction of the national program to combat money laundering. He was recruited by Air Canada in 2000 for the merger with Canadian airlines, to lead its security department. Subsequently in 2007, Duguay joined the Canadian Air Transport Security, as Senior Vice President of Operations and Passenger Experience, responsible for the security screening operations in 89 airports.

Duguay launched his own firm, HCiWorld, in 2013, to offer consulting and audit services as well as compliance and training in security. 

Recently, HCiWorld, in partnership with Fortas Security, provided security screening services and equipment for the Osheaga and Île Soniq concerts in Montreal. Duguay and his team were responsible for designing plans, drafting operational procedures, delivering training, and exercising control and oversight at the venue. To be able to use his experience and expertise in civil aviation and adapt it to the security needs of cultural, sports and corporate events, Duguay decided to pursue the CSSP certification.

Duguay found that the content of the CSSP certification program validated his instincts and provided him with the language, practices and standards associated to the sports security industry. He also noted that the most challenging part of the CSSP exam was the legal and regulatory portion, which references American legislation as opposed to the Canadian equivalent. Going forward, Duguay believes the CSSP credential will market and develop business initiatives in Canada and the U.S. as well.

HCiWorld is the first company in Canada to have a CSSP.  Duguay is also a certified director and holds the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Director.  He also holds the MBA designation, having graduated from the EMBA program from McGill University and the HEC in Montreal.
