A total of 13 sports facilities will be recognized for their achievements in security as part of the 2014 National Sports Safety and Security Conference and Exhibition set for July 8-10, in Indianapolis, Ind. More than 400 security professionals and 56 vendor exhibits are expected for the national conference.

The presentation of awards to these facilities will take place on the second day of the fifth annual conference, which is sponsored by the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) at The University of Southern Mississippi.

“The reason for the Facility of Merit for Safety and Security Award is to allow professional leagues, NCAA member institutions and amateur organizations to honor outstanding safety and security achievements,” said NCS4 Director Dr. Lou Marciani. “These achievements involve actions above normal operational activities whereby a safety or security issue may have been tackled.”

Marciani noted that each league or organization selects the criteria and makes the determination as to which facility will be recognized. CEIA USA is serving as the official sponsor of the Facility of Merit Awards. Those being recognized include the following:

  • Alumni Stadium at Boston College (NCAA)
  • Common Wealth Stadium at the University of Kentucky (NCAA)
  • Yale Bowl at Yale University (NCAA)
  • Carmel Clay High School District (NFHS/NIAAA)
  • Menomonee Falls School District (NFHS/NIAAA)
  • Wicomico County Stadium (NFHS/NIAAA)
  • Madison Square Garden (NHL)
  • MetLife Stadium (NFL)
