Fly Fishing Fair Comes to Ocean Springs; Donates to GCRL Programming

The International Federation of Fly Fishers – Gulf Coast Council (IFFF-GCC) is holding the Gulf Coast Fly Fair at the Ocean Springs Civic Center on Sept.12 and 13 with proceeds being donated to the University of Southern Mississippi, Gulf Coast Research Laboratory (GCRL).

The fair will be held from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12 and from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13.

The activities will include a variety of fly fishing instruction, including beginner classes, casting lessons, and various presentations. There will also be silent auctions and raffles for rods, reels, equipment and artwork. A percentage of those proceeds will go to support Marine education programming at the GCRL. There will be fly tying demonstrations by fly tiers in five states, programs specifically for scouts and outdoor vendors. See http://www.gulfcoastfff.org/ for additional details.

  • Jay Clark - champion distance fly caster
  • David Diaz, MCI - long time member and past president of the IFFF Casting
  • Board of Governors - numerous recognized casting instructors.
  • Walt Holman - 2013 Buszek Award Winner - IFFF's top fly tying award
