Mississippi Polymer Institutes Recent Services Help Create 36 New Jobs

The Mississippi Polymer Institute provided technical assistance to six Mississippi-based manufacturing companies yielding over $4 million in direct financial impact and resulting in the creation of 36 new jobs in Mississippi, according to data compiled by InnovateMEP Mississippi.

The analysis included third party national surveys of manufacturers by NIST Manufacturing Extension Partnership for survey periods Quarter 2 2013 – Quarter 1 2014.

“MPI has a long history of providing valuable support to our state's manufacturers. We were very happy to hear of the impact our efforts had for these manufacturers,” said Robert Thompson, interim director of MPI. “Our wide range of technical services, from workforce development to 3D printing, are offered throughout Mississippi with the focus of assisting manufacturers and entrepreneurs with their technical needs. We are proud to be a part of the network of services offered around the state through the InnovateMEP network.”

The Mississippi Polymer Institute serves as the industrial outreach service for The University of Southern Mississippi. Its mission is to utilize its capabilities, along with those of the School of Polymers and High Perfomrance Materials, to support the growth of high tech businesses across Mississippi.
