The University of Southern Mississippi's National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) will hold the 2nd annual National Intercollegiate Athletics Safety and Security Summit on Jan. 27-29, 2015 at Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge, La.

The Summit serves as the only annual combined meeting for personnel responsible for safety and security management at collegiate sports events in Division I, II and III institutions, as well as Athletic Conferences and College Football Bowls.

The purpose of the summit is to build off of the safety and security best practices determined from the previous year's event and focus on how to implement the best practices.

“We are pleased the National Intercollegiate Athletics Safety and Security Summit will be held on the campus of Louisiana State University in 2015,” said Southeastern Conference (SEC) Commissioner Mike Slive. “The SEC maintains a strong stance to be a leader in the effort to ensure the safety of our student-athletes, coaches and fans at athletic events. The NCS4 has done an outstanding job in assisting the college athletics community and we thank LSU for supporting this event.”

Invitees include representatives from athletic departments and athletic conferences, as well as bowl administrators and staff, campus law enforcement, first responders, and security companies responsible for providing contract services.

“In the world we live in today, we are unfortunately faced with many challenges when it comes to making our campuses and venues as safe as possible regarding large sporting events,” said Lawrence Rabalais, Chief of Police at LSU.  “The Intercollegiate Athletics Safety and Security Summit is an excellent opportunity for individuals from various campuses to come together and discuss, as well as learn from each other, as it relates to what best practices are in place at our respective institutions. Therefore, we are excited to welcome attendees to LSU.”

The next edition of the guide will be produced over the months following the summit and introduced at a forum during the annual National Sports Safety and Security Conference on July 7-9, 2015, at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla.

The National Intercollegiate Athletics Safety and Security Summit at Louisiana State University will begin Tuesday, Jan. 27th at 8:30 a.m. and end on Thursday, Jan. 29th at 1 p.m. To register, visit https://www.ncs4.com/events/collegiate-summit. Limited seating is available.
