The National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) is proud to announce that Criterion Venue Security is now requiring their staff to attain NCS4's Certified Sport Venue Staff (CSVS) Certification - the nation's first comprehensive sport and special event security credential for front line venue and event staff.

“Other industries that we work with such as healthcare and manufacturing industries require individuals to attain certain certifications,” said Criterion CEO, Robert Buchanan. “The CSVS Certification is a much needed platform in the sports security industry that will ensure we have qualified (and screened) staff working venues whose skills/knowledge have been both tested and vetted.”

The CSVS Certification consists of a criminal background check, as well as online training and testing. It is designed for all levels of venue/event staff such as professional, collegiate, high school and amateur events/venues.

Once registered, game day staff are eligible to go through one or all of the role-specific online training modules including: traffic/parking attendants, gate security, ticket takers, ushers, guest services representatives, cleaning attendants, concession staff and retail associates.

The CSVS Certification is awarded when an individual passes the online test as well as their background screening.

“We are excited to have Criterion go through the CSVS program. Venue staff are essential to a successful game day, and knowing that they have been properly screened and trained is invaluable. I applaud Criterion for not just seeing the importance of the program, but also for taking action,” said NCS4's Certification Director, Alana Penza.

The CSVS is valid for three years and the cost $36 per individual.
