The University of Southern Mississippi will celebrate Homecoming 2014 on Nov. 8, when the football Golden Eagles take on Conference USA rival Marshall at M.M. Roberts Stadium.

Each fall, Southern Miss hosts its Homecoming weekend, a university tradition, and festivities begin as early as Monday and continue through Sunday evening with involvement from all areas of campus.

Some of the events alumni, students, friends and fans of the university can look forward to occurring throughout the 2014 celebration are the 15th Annual Southern Miss Alumni Homecoming Golf Tournament, the Alumni Hall of Fame Banquet, Homecoming Parade, the Association's Annual Awards Ceremony and Business Meeting, concerts, reunions, tailgating and a pep rally. In addition to these events, the Association will host an inaugural African American Alumni Brunch on Sunday, Nov. 9.

“Homecoming is a particularly special time for alumni to return home to their alma mater,” said Jerry DeFatta, executive director of the Alumni Association. “The Association has the opportunity to not only recognize alums that have played a vital role in the life of the university, but also is able to welcome home all alumni, young and old, to celebrate Golden Eagle pride and Southern Miss tradition during this highly anticipated weekend.”

Alumni should be on the lookout for the Association's fall issue of The Talon, which will be in homes prior to Homecoming. This publication, a benefit of membership in the Association, will be packed with a complete schedule of Homecoming 2014 events. The organization will be taking nominations for all awards given during Homecoming through May 30, 2014.
