Southern Miss Offers Corporate Treasury Management Program

A new program in the College of Business at The University of Southern Mississippi will enable finance students to gain a competitive edge as they pursue professional opportunities.

This semester Southern Miss became a member of the Corporate Treasury Management (CTM) Program – an exclusive arrangement between the Association of Financial Professionals (AFP) and business schools across the country. Less than 50 universities in the U.S. are members, and Southern Miss currently offers the only CTM Program in Mississippi.

“Securing the CTM affiliation is a huge win for USM because only students at affiliated universities can sit for the Certified Treasury Professional exam,” said Dr. Matthew Hill, assistant professor of finance at Southern Miss. “Students earning the CTP designation are able to differentiate themselves from graduates of other universities.”

Dr. Wayne Kelly, department chair and professor of finance, points out that the CTM Program is even beneficial for students who do not take the CTP exam. “Students taking our course are exposed to careers in the treasury field. These careers are under-served and provide strong employment opportunities for fresh finance graduates,” he said.

The CTM Program is designed to introduce students to the many career options in the finance profession, including cash and treasury management. It also provides students with the analytical expertise and practical knowledge necessary to excel in finance professions. Additionally, students who opt for the CTM program will have access to the AFP's corporate member information, including job announcements and related news.
