The Southern Miss Alumni Association will host its 17th Annual Shell Finish Line/Alumni Homecoming Golf Tournament on Friday, Oct. 16. Proceeds from the annual tournament allow select children and grandchildren of Southern Miss alumni to receive one-time, $1,000 scholarships through the Association's Robert D. Pierce II Legacy Scholars Program.

The event will be held at the Hattiesburg Country Club, the official country club of the Alumni Association, and begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. in conjunction with the university's Homecoming festivities.

Southern Miss alumni and friends are invited to form teams of four to participate in the scramble hosted by the Alumni Association. The $150 all-inclusive entry fee includes golf, two mulligans, entry into the 5/5/5 and putting contests, beverages and lunch. Prizes will be awarded for the low gross and low net scores, closest to the hole and longest drive. All participants will receive a tee prize that will include a Southern Miss Golden Eagle bag chair and ball marker, both featuring the new eagle head logo.

“The Alumni Association's golf tournament has become an exciting and significant annual event to support scholarships administered to children and grandchildren of alumni,” said Dane Reiter, tournament organizer and associate director for internal operations for the Alumni Association. “During the 2015-16 school year, the Alumni Association awarded 10 Pierce Legacy scholarships. We greatly appreciate the generosity of the many people who make this event successful, including sponsors, players and volunteers. Because of this tournament, we can continue to grow our legacy scholarship program year after year.”
