Gulf Park Campus, MLK Coastwide Celebration to Host Inaugural Film Festival

In partnership with the 29th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Coastwide Celebration, The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park campus will host an inaugural film festival with a screening of the documentary, “Aboveboard: Port of the Future.” The documentary, along with a panel discussion, will be held Thursday, Jan. 8 from 6 – 9 p.m. in the Fleming Education Center on the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach.

Following the film screening, the panel discussion will include the documentary's producers, Francisco Gonzalez and Elaine Stevens; award-winning environmental activist Rose Johnson; port campaign organizer and Steps Coalition community organizer Howard Page; Southern Miss professor emeritus of history Dr. James
‘Pat' Smith; and moderators Constance Bailey and Gordon Jackson.

This event, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Office of the Vice President at the Southern Miss Gulf Park campus, MLK Coastwide Celebration Committee and the Steps Coalition. The theme for this year's MLK Coastwide Celebration is “A New Movement in the Spirit of the King.”
