The National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security has partnered with the College of Business to offer an MBA with an Emphasis in Sport Security Management.

The National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4), located at The University of Southern Mississippi, is launching a fundraising campaign supporting the new MBA with an Emphasis in Sport Security Management. NCS⁴ has recently partnered with the College of Business to develop the nation's first graduate degree that focuses on sport security.

The master's program will create leaders in the field, and assist the University in becoming a cornerstone in the sport security arena. By combining the MBA with an emphasis in sports security management, graduates will help bridge the gap between business and safety within the sport industry.

The fundraising campaign is set to launch on May 18th, and will conclude at the annual National Sports Safety and Security Conference and Exhibition at Walt Disney World in Orlando on July 6-9.

“The University of Southern Mississippi is an excellent choice for a quality education and is a great starting point for a career in the ever-growing field of sport security management,” said NCS4 Director Lou Marciani.

“Your support will provide students with opportunities to gain the credibility and distinction needed to excel in management roles and leadership positions in the sport security profession.”

NCS4 works with recognized and respected safety and security experts across the country from professional sport leagues (NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, MLS) as well as NCAA, National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), and marathon organizers to give the MBA students firsthand experience through internships, applied research projects, case studies, and laboratory evaluations. Students will also have opportunities to network and collaborate with industry professionals at various national events.

Selected recipients will be awarded a graduate assistantship with NCS4, which covers tuition costs and a stipend. Graduate Assistants will have the opportunity to:

  • Participate in applied research by partnering with sports organizations and security companies on projects and case studies that support graduate curriculum.
  • Gain firsthand experience through NCS⁴'s National Laboratory applying the latest technology to solutions in the field on a real-time basis.
  • Receive guidance and collaborate with industry professionals and subject matter experts at the National Sports Safety and Security Conference and various national summits produced by NCS⁴.
