School of Kinesiology hosting State Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Convention Nov. 6

The University of Southern Mississippi's School of Kinesiology will host the Mississippi Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance's 82nd annual convention Friday, Nov. 6 in the Thad Cochran Center (TCC) on the Hattiesburg campus.

The convention, titled “Focus on the Future” is designed for educators, administrators, coaches and professionals from across the state involved in all aspects of health, physical education, recreation and dance. The event also provides an opportunity for participants to address the future of physical activity and its role in the education and health of Mississippians.
 
Convention programming will feature instructional and activity-based sessions in the following schedule:

• Adapted physical activities for students with limited mobility with Beth Foster, adapted PE specialist. 10-10:50 a.m., TCC, room 216.
• “Fuel Up to Play” by Nancy Roman, Southeast Dairy Association and MS FUTP, 2-2:50 p.m., TCC, room 216.
• Developing sport excellence through athlete development models with Dr. Melissa Thompson, associate professor of sport coaching education. 2-2:50 p.m., TCC, room 216.
• Creating a task-oriented environment in PE and Coaching with Erica Pasquini and Alisha Sink, kinesiology doctoral students. 2-2:50 p.m., TCC, room 216.
